- A Minimum Of Three Passes At The G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination With Tamil As A Subject; Or
- A Minimum Of Three Passes At The G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination In The Tamil Medium With At Least A B Grade In Tamil And Tamil Literature At The G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination; Or
- Successful Completion Of The National Diploma In Teaching (Tamil) From A National College Of Education; Or
- An Equivalent Or Higher Qualification Accepted By The University Senate.
